This Privacy Policy describes how ESSENZA Solutions Ltd (doing business as Play Italian Shop) ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your Personal Information when you visit or make a purchase from playitalianshop.com (the "Site").

- Personal Information collected: version of web browser, IP address, time zone, cookie information, what sites or products you view, search terms, and how you interact with the Site

- Purpose of collection: to fulfil our contract with you, including processing your payment, arranging shipping, providing order confirmations, communicating with you, screening orders for potential risk or fraud, and sending post-purchase review requests via Loox.
- Source of collection: collected from you.
- Disclosure for a business purpose: shared with our processor Shopify and our operational printing and fulfillment partners to print and ship your orders.
- Personal Information collected: name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (processed directly by Shopify Payments or PayPal, we do not store your card details), email address, and phone number.

- Purpose of collection: to send you news, updates, and offers about our products and services where you have given your consent or where we have a legitimate interest in doing so as an existing customer, including abandoned cart reminders.
- Source of collection: collected from you when you subscribe to our newsletter (via double opt-in) or place an order.
- Disclosure for a business purpose: shared with our email marketing provider Klaviyo (for newsletters and abandoned cart emails)

Sharing Personal Information
We share your Personal Information with service providers to help us provide our services and fulfill our contracts with you, as described above. For example:

- We also share your information (such as your delivery address and order details) with our operational printing and fulfilment partners to print and ship your books directly to you.

- We work with a third-party developer who may have access to the Site and its data for the purposes of technical maintenance and development. Access is limited to what is necessary to perform these services.
- We may share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.
Behavioural Advertising
We may use your Personal Information to show you targeted advertisements on third-party platforms. We currently use, or have the technical infrastructure in place to use, the following advertising platforms:

Using Personal Information
We use your personal Information to provide our services to you, which includes: offering products for sale, processing payments, shipping and fulfillment of your order, and keeping you up to date on new products, services, and offers. Our communications will be from either playitalianshop.com or playitalian.com.
Lawful basis
Pursuant to the UK General Data Protection Regulation ("UK GDPR") and the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), we process your personal information under the following lawful bases:
- Contract: processing your order, payment, and shipping, and sending order confirmations.
- Consent: newsletter subscriptions (collected via double opt-in) and non-essential cookies.
- Legitimate interests: abandoned cart reminders to users who have initiated a checkout but not completed their purchase, and fraud screening — where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Legal obligation: retaining transaction and financial records as required by law.
Retention
We retain your Personal Information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, and in accordance with our legal obligations. Our retention periods are as follows:
- Order and transaction data: 7 years from the date of order, in accordance with HMRC and Companies Act requirements.
- Device and analytics data: retained in accordance with your cookie consent preferences. You can manage these at any time via our cookie preference centre.
- Email marketing data: for as long as you maintain your subscription. Your data will be deleted promptly upon unsubscribe.

Automatic decision-making
Our platform provider Shopify uses limited automated decision-making to prevent fraud. This does not have a legal or otherwise significant effect on you. This includes:
- Temporary blocking of IP addresses associated with repeated failed transactions, for a short period of hours.
- Temporary blocking of payment cards associated with those IP addresses, for a short period of days.
Your rights
